It is with sadness that we report the death of Donald George McMillan in Uganda on 3rd January 2024.

Don represented Thames Valley from 1976 to 1978 appearing in 28 games and scoring 11 tries.

He is well remembered for his runaway try when playing for Counties/Thames Valley against the 1977 Lions. Don ran almost 80 metres to score with Mike Gibson in hot pursuit while the rest of the players sorted out some “how’s your father” back inside C/TV’s 22.

Don also played for Poverty Bay and a Colin Meads’ XV.

Our sincere sympathy goes to Don’s wife Lydia and his son Dan in Uganda as well as his sister Diane and brother Ross in New Zealand.
