Thames Valley to play King Country in mid-season clash 2024.
The Thames Valley Rugby Union are excited announce a mid-season representative clash against King Country Rugby Union on Friday 24th May 2024. The fixture will take place at FMG Stadium in Hamilton as a curtain-raiser for the Chiefs vs Hurricanes DHL Super Rugby Pacific Round 14 fixture.
The match will be played by local players only, meaning that players will have to play in the H.G Leach & Co Thames Valley Club Rugby Competition to be eligible to play. This will create a great edge to the first seven rounds of our Club Rugby competition, with players obviously vying for a position to represent their province.
We are extremely grateful to the Chiefs as this opportunity gives our players exposure they might never have had, and real purpose to play and get fit early. It also gives our Clubs a real weapon when talking to prospective players about playing Club rugby in the province, and it gives the Swamp Foxes Coaches a chance to see local players in preparation for the Heartland season.
This fixture will not effect our internal competitions, with the appropriate tweaks been made to allow this fixture to happen within it’s full integrity. We would like to thank our Clubs for allowing us to have players available for Thames Valley at this point of the season, hence why there will be no games that weekend.
More information will be sent out to Clubs, including key dates and other important detail.
