Three current Thames Valley players have been selected for the NZ Heartland U19’s team that will participate in the Jock Hobb’s Memorial U19 tournament in Taupo come the end of September.
Alex Robinson (Cobras), Jordan May (Cobras) and Jason Hayward (Ngatea) are part of a 25 man squad that will assemble in Taupo on the 24th September to take part in the week long tournament.
Having first shown their skills in the Thames Valley U19’s against Corinthians on Queens Birthday weekend – All 3 are currently involved with the Harlequins U19’s team that are playing in a series of games against other provincial unions U19’s teams from throughout the Chiefs region.
“Having these 3 young men make it into this squad certainly justifies the decision to reintroduce the TV U19’s team into the rep calendar and shows that there is a pathway to higher honours from within our province” says TV RDO Bill Cooksley.
He went on to say “and the support from the Harlequins Rugby Club, Waikato Rugby Union and the Northern Regions Rugby Council in allowing the Harlequins team to participate in the build up games has been a key factor in getting these young men to this stage”.
