The Thames Valley team is off to Greymouth on Saturday to play West Coast in the penultimate round of the Mitre 10 Heartland Championship.
Both teams are in a good position on the points table to qualify for the Meads Cup section of the championship so the stakes are high with only two rounds to go.
West Coast has had a mixed season with good away wins against King Country and East Coast and a very good home win against otherwise unbeaten Horowhenua Kapiti.
Last week they were beaten 38-45 by table toppers South Canterbury in Greymouth, picking up two bonus points along the way showing they are well able to compete with the best teams and that they are a formidable opponent at their home ground.
This week coach Matthew Bartleet has the benefit of most of the squad available for selection although some are pretty beaten up from a tough few games over recent weeks.
Prop Travis Scott returns from illness along with lock Connor McVerry who has been out with an injury concern, to bolster a pack that missed their presence in the loss to Mid Canterbury in Paeroa.
Tyrone Keith comes into the starting line up while Jarrod Goodall comes onto the bench along with lock Matt Rolston. All three took part in last week’s successful Development Team win over Waikato in Paeroa and will be making their first appearances in Greymouth.
The full team is:
The referee is Nick Webster and the game starts at 2.30pm at Rugby Park, Greymouth.
In other round seven games, Horowhenua Kapiti and Wanganui meet at Levin, Mid Canterbury plays Buller in Ashburton, East Coast travels to Oamaru to play North Otago, Poverty Bay and King Country clash in Gisborne and South Canterbury is at home against Wairarapa Bush in Timaru.
Finally, the Round 8 game between Thames Valley and Poverty Bay on October 14, has been transferred to Boyd Park, Te Aroha because the Paeroa Domain is not available.
