Round two of the Silcock Shield brings Thames club rugby into action for the first time this year after having the bye last week.
Coach Brent Dulfin takes his team to Waihi to face a home side coming off a good win. There are some unfamiliar faces in the Thames line-up and that unknown quality will add to the anticipation.
Coromandel is off to Paeroa to take on Paeroa West at Leach’s Field as two of last week’s defeated sides square off in search of a first win. These two last met in the 2014 Lawrence Cup final when West won 25-22.
Two of last week’s winning teams meet at Lyon Park, where Mercury Bay host Cobras. When these teams met here last year the home side held on to win 24-22. Whangamata travels to Waitakaruru to play Hauraki North.
In the Senior B grade Hauraki North And Mercury Bay grade are the curtain raiser at Waitakaruru while Waihi Athletic and Thames do the same at Waihi. Both games at 12.30pm. Ngatea plays Paeroa Old Boys at Ngatea and the first local derby in Te Aroha pits Waihou against Cobras. Both games at 2pm.
