- PURPOSE OF POSITION
Create a positive rugby experience, where all involved develop resilience and “smarts”, aligned with Thames Valley Rugby. · Alignment – programme is aligned to our vision “to create qualify life experiences through rugby” and values. · Resilience – shared vision, living values, driving standards, performance accountability, tight and tough. · Smarts – awareness, feedback, self-reflection, leadership, learning, what we do under pressure and fun. |
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coaching Philosophy | · Establish a clear Coaching Philosophy with Values aligned with Thames Valley Rugby. · Coaching Philosophy and Values are evident throughout the Representative Campaign. |
Campaign Plan | · Work with Thames Valley Player Pathways and/or Coach Development Lead to develop a coherent Campaign Plan. · Campaign Plan follows appropriate timeframes. |
Squad and Team Selection | · Selection follows a transparent, logical process. · Selection involves ongoing, open communication. · Selection is appropriately communicated to Clubs/Schools and Thames Valley Rugby. |
Trainings | · Trainings have a Training Plan, which evolves out of the Campaign Plan. · Trainings throughout the Campaign embrace:- o Performance o Learning o Enjoyment |
Playing / Competition | · All selected squad members have opportunities to showcase their learnings in games. · Adherence to competition rules and standards. |
Review | · Undergo a Review process. |

· Performance at Tournaments and Competitions. |
· Relationship and communication with other Thames Valley Representative Teams. |
- KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Internal | · Team Coaches and Management. · Other Thames Valley Representative Coaches. · Thames Valley Player Pathways Lead. · Thames Valley Coach Development Lead. |
External | · Referees. · Rugby Clubs. · Secondary Schools. |
- REQUIREMENTS
Rugby Qualifications/Experience | · Rugby Smart 2024. · World Rugby DRC Level 2 OR equivalent experience. · World Rugby Level 3 is exceptional, but not required. |
Future Coaching Plan | · Ideally previous experience in either Representative Coaching and /or Premier Club Coaching. |
Coaching Team | · Intended continual development and involvement in rugby over the next two years. · Organise your own coaching/management group for the campaign (assistant coaches/managers/physio). |
