The TVRU would like to thank the Hauraki North Rugby Club for all their hard work and dedication over the past two seasons facilitating our only Women’s Club team. Their ongoing support towards Women’s Rugby in our province is integral and we are sincerely grateful for their support to get us where we are today.

The Women’s Club Competition in 2025 anticipates retaining all six (6) teams from 2024, whilst also attracting other TVRU Clubs to possibly join the frame. As the pathway through the Secondary School Girls 1st XV competition continues to get stronger, and now allowing players to join us from outside the Thames Valley province, the competition will certainly leverage these resources to continue growing player numbers and quality of Rugby.

As the Women’s game has progressed from zero (0) to two hundred (200+) players in a five-year period. It is fantastic that the TVRU Clubs are driven to make this a sustainable and attractive product, understanding that we must be able to walk before we can sprint. To reflect this, both the TVRU and Clubs must cater for this growth and ensure every Woman living in this province has an opportunity to play in a Bonafide competition.

All players who play within the TVRU Women’s Club Competition in 2025 will be eligible for the Thames Valley Vixens who play in the North Island Women’s Heartland Competition, where we were runners up this year to Whanganui. There will also be a Vixens Training Squad selected, whom will have a number of trainings and play two (2) games throughout the Club season to measure their development. Appropriate breaks will be made in the Women’s Club Competition to protect the integrity of the competition.

We look forward to releasing the confirmed Competition framework early next year. This will follow Club Entries and a current reshape of the TVRU Bylaw’s.
