{"id":2967,"date":"2023-11-17T04:51:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T04:51:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thamesvalleyswampfoxes.co.nz\/?page_id=2967"},"modified":"2023-11-17T04:51:47","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T04:51:47","slug":"concussion-care","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/thamesvalleyswampfoxes.co.nz\/?page_id=2967","title":{"rendered":"Concussion Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What we\u2019re going to do:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Ensure concussion is a prominent part of our annual RugbySmart courses.<\/li>\n<li>Financially assist players and families with payment of medical bills relating to concussion.<\/li>\n<li>Provide follow up support and guidance to concussed players around the graduated return to play guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Be the conduit for New Zealand Rugby and District Health Board resources<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">CONCUSSION \u2013 RugbySmart<\/h3>\n<div class=\"user-content\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>We want to ensure that anyone involved in rugby \u2013\u00a0 players, coaches, refs and family \u2013 know what to look out for and what to do when they suspect a player has sustained a concussion.<\/p>\n<p>We all have a role to play in recognizing, removing and helping to manage concussions. For more info around Concussion in rugby, visit:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbysmart.co.nz\/injuries\/concussion\/\">https:\/\/www.rugbysmart.co.nz\/injuries\/concussion\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">BLUE CARD \u2013 What does this mean?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The purpose of the Blue Card Initiative is to enable referees to remove players from a match if they are suspected of sustaining a concussion. However, it is important to remember that regardless of whether a concussion is Blue Carded or not, that player is required to complete the minimum stand down period and follow the Graduated Return to Play.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a minimum, we will cover the cost for all blued carded and concussed players\u2019 medical clearance examinations. Players need to keep their receipts, so they can be reimbursed and get in touch with us around this.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">GRADUATED RETURN TO PLAY<\/h3>\n<div class=\"user-content\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During this stand down period players must complete the Graduated Return to Learn\/Work and the Return to Play (GRTP) program.
